The
Daily Routine of Innkeeping
The BBI conducts the only 3-day hands-on workshop for aspiring innsitters.
The workshop is also for aspiring innkeepers who want to experience the day-to-day routine of innkeeping before purchase. The on-site hands-on program is geared to provide experience in the full spectrum of day-to-day duties in operating an inn. The workshops are conducted by Wendy Kelts Tamiso, BBI's Executive Director.
Students
stay in the host inn and experience
the actual day-to-day routine of
innkeeping. The curriculum covers:
Front Office Procedures,
including reservations, telephone
technique, guest management software,
confirmation letters, cancellations,
credit card processing, basic bookkeeping
software, check-in and check-out.
Food Service, including
breakfast preparation and service,
garnishing and presentation, meal
planning, handling special diets,
and additional food services.
Housekeeping, including
supervising housekeeping staff,
room and bathroom cleaning checklists,
and laundry.
Business Issues, including
creating a professional image, developing
business materials, marketing, independent
contractor status, contracts, and
insurance.
One
evening we dine at an area restaurant
to experience the local cuisine.
It's a great time to ask questions
and share your goals.
Each
workshop is limited to ten students.
This provides for hands-on training
and personal participant attention.
